Overview

Several products are under development. These products are aimed at various motor disorders and various populations. The use of innovative high technologies (electronics, sensors, wireless communication) permit the most effective rehabilitation and diagnostics of a variety of motor pathologies, as well as the prevention of movement quality deterioration at hypodynamic lifestyle and aging.

How It Works

One of the main limits of the existing methods of motor rehabilitation and training is that they are based on movement repetition and not problem solving. For that reason plasticity in the Central Nervous System in areas related to motor control is limited. The plasticity can be obtained only when the new complex skills are consolidated. The new approach is intended to challenge the user by inducing variable environments that need active response. This approach requires problem-solving in real time.

SoM-ToUR (Thrive on Unique Road)

SoM-ToUR aims to train children and teenagers with Cerebral Palsy. It is a computer-controlled walking-sandal that modifies the environment during walking and is aimed to improve stability and walking in their home and community environments. Further versions of SoM-ToUR will fit bigger footwear sizes and will be modified for use by adults with Cerebral Palsy, persons with hemiplegia following stroke, and traumatic brain injury.

SWAN (Smart Wearable Assistance to Neck)

SWAN is a wearable non-invasive system aimed to reduce pain and improve posture by inducing chaotic pressure/vibration to the neck muscles applied during working hours in front of computers and by doing so become part of the natural ergonomic environment of the user. In co-operation with Ab.Acus S.r.l (Italy).

Joint Projects

SMILING PRO* (Self Mobility Improvement in the eLderly by counteractING falls)

SMILING PRO is a wearable training system for clinical environments and professional use. It provides information about linear and non-linear characteristics of the walking and enables manual correction of the operation of the device.
The SMILING solution, a wearable non-invasive computer-controlled system, is aimed to perform chaotic perturbations to lower extremities during active walking by small alterations of the height and slope of weight-bearing surfaces.

SMILING HC*

SMILING HC is a simplified version of SMILING PRO that will be used at home and community centers. It remodels training sessions in fitness clubs or home environments to facilitate and ameliorate walking.
